Minister Fancourt sent his new "Ministry Liaison" to St. Mungo's today. He didn't tell any of us what he was planning. He just took care of everything and announced it when it was all set, which is odd, but I think he's getting more and more paranoid. Or imperiused
Anyway, it's Ralph Henchley, who started working for Fancourt long before I started here. He's probably closer to him than anyone else in the office so it seems pretty obvious he's just interested in having a mole at St. Mungo's. He's a pretty serious type, more uptight than me takes his job very seriously, definitely loyal to Fancourt above everyone else and doesn't have much in the way of a sense of humour.
If you end up at St. Mungo's as a patient or for anything remotely suspicious and run into him, I'd advise against attempts at sweet-talking, charming, deflecting attention through humour or anything along those lines.
I'm not sure how much I'll be able to find out about his reports since I'm assuming he's going to go straight to Fancourt with them, but I'll do my best.
In the meantime, don't get hurt? And maybe we could talk a little more about the need to recruit a healer? instead of useless- not helpful Emmeline, get over it

Possibly voting Saturday? Already? I've hardly seen anything in the journals from Remus or Peter (although that may be in their favour) and everything I've seen from Sirius just reaffirms my opinion of him.
There has to be a better way to do this. [Private to Order]
I don't expect this is going to surprise any of you, but the Minister's office is a complete mess. As far as I can tell, no one even knew he was going off to do that interview and since the attacks, he's gone back to mostly hiding in his office. When he's even here. The rest of the office is trying to cover for him, but it isn't easy.
He was here yesterday and I heard him yelling in his office saying "I want that damned journalist questioned." I don't know who he was talking to - either I missed them coming out (unlikely) or it was a floo call (probably) or at this point I am not going to rule out the possibility that he was talking to himself. Sturgis, be on your guard. I don't know if he's talking about you but there's a short list of about four journalists I can think of and you're on it. I'll let you know if I hear anything else but unfortunately for the most part we're being kept as much in the dark as the rest of you.
And if any of you are among the hundred or so people who have sent howlers this week, please remember that they get stopped at his secretary's desk and it's the rest of us who have to hear them. [Private to Moody, Alice and Frank]
I didn't want to bring this up with the rest of them because it's very possible sleep deprivation is making me paranoid, but I'm starting to wonder if there isn't something legitimately wrong with the Minister. I brought the notion up with Millicent and she didn't seem to think much of it. Of course she was also in the middle of reprimanding me for speaking to Mr Crouch about the Minister and I think I may have stumbled into a bit of a turf war there.
But it is strange that he didn't tell any of us that he was doing the interview (or if he did tell someone, they're staying tight-lipped about it.) And the Minister has been making some decisions we all find somewhat questionable but I really don't think he's stupid. Not stupid enough to give that interview without realizing there would be consequences.
So I have theories. And this is the part where you can tell me I've lost my mind. But what if the journalist that the Minister wants to question is the one who wrote the profile piece of him on Saturday?
Theory #1 - The journalist fabricated the profile, in sum or in parts to make the Minister look bad. Do we know anything about Charles Lufkin?
Theory #2 - The Minister gave the interview and was fully aware of what he was saying but is going to try and claim that he wasn't now that the Death Eaters retaliated. Or he just didn't realize how his quote would look in print. Or that it would be that part of the interview that would end up in the Prophet. I really do think he's smarter than that, but it is a possibility.
Theory #2a - He could have been coerced into giving the interview. But someone who was being coerced probably wouldn't come across as being in as good of spirits as the article portrayed him.
Theory #3 - He doesn't remember giving the interview. (This is the possibly crazy part.) Which would suggest imperius or- are there other spells that could be used to make him give that interview and not remember it? Someone would notice though, right? It seems so absurd when I write it down but it does fit the pieces I have so far. Possibly.
Tell me I'm crazy?

Some days I'm really not sure what I'm doing with the Order. I'm not an Auror. I'm not a cursebreaker or an obliviator or anyone special. I'm not really trained at all unless filing and office work counts. I'm never going to shout from the rooftops about- well anything really. But after what happened with Colleen... I don't understand why it's so horrible to suggest maybe we don't need any more people who can't keep their mouths shut when it comes to purists and Death Eaters.
Then again, Dumbledore was one of the people encouraging Colleen when she wrote that stupid editorial in the first place. I wonder if he'd still say the same thing now.
Probably.
Maybe half the group really does have some kind of death wish. It's the only explanation I can figure out. Maybe there's something wrong with me because I don't. Because if it came down to my life or the Order, I'd take my obliviation and run for it.
It's not as if it'd be a problem. The most I can do is get information from the Minister's office but even that isn't going so well now since he's barely around and/or locked in his office all the time. At least it's something. Dad always said not to trust people who don't work for a living. Even mum. At least he's consistent. I guess. But if I feel like I'm barely able to contribute, what are they supposed to be bringing to the group?
Anyway I learned my lesson. I'll keep my opinions to myself and go back to letting the ones who shout the loudest get their way without ruffling anyone's feathers.
Lily seemed nice though. And it isn't her fault Dumbledore is asking for recruiting suggestions from brand new members. James pretty much confirmed all of my opinions of him though. Was anyone even listening to his 'I'm so much more brilliant than all of you' attitude?
This is so pointless. [Private to Lily]
I'm sorry about last night. We may not see eye to eye on some things but I was harsh in subjecting you to my frustrations. Welcome to the Order. [Private to Benjy, Alice, Frank, Dorcas and Caradoc (it's a completely arbitrary list, go with it)]
I hate arguing.
I don't suppose any of you would be up for grabbing a drink tonight and not talking about the Order. Really just one or two drinks, nothing crazy.
